Emma's Robot Dragon
Emma was a brainy girl aged 12. She had a flair for robotics and coding. One project which she worked on single-handedly was her Robot Dragon. No, please don’t run away, it didn’t breathe fire. This ‘Robot Dragon’ had a knack of finding lost things. Emma had helped several fellow students and schoolteachers dealing with “Oh no! I’ve lost it again!”.
Emma was relaxing at home, doing what she felt was ‘relaxing’. Yes, for Emma it was just that. She was making a new prototype for her next project.
Her principal, meanwhile, was busy attending meetings with other teachers to sort out the school fair. They had to decide, where and which type of stalls they would be setting up. She had made a well-planned and organised chart based on their discussions. What is all this about Principal? Well, wait and see. The principal was aware of Robot Dragon and wanted to felicitate Emma with a medal and a prize. She had carefully wrapped up a shiny ‘School Robotics Leader’ Badge in golden wrapping paper.
The next morning, the principal had got up at 7:00 am to begin her work. She woke up and got ready. Then she rushed to her desk to find the chart she had made. But, no matter where in her room she searched, she couldn’t find it. She was panic-stricken, and almost about to start making a new one. It was 01:00 pm, when she remembered the “Robot Dragon!”. She grabbed the telephone hurriedly. Quickly dialled ‘9726504432’ – what a confusing number. Emma answered almost instantly. “Hello, who is it?” Emma started off cheerfully and playfully thinking it was her friend. She was eagerly waiting her friend’s reply. Instead, came the serious, but kind voice of the principal. Emma almost tripped over her dog in shock. “Emma, it’s the principal speaking. This morning, I lost an important paper. Please help by bringing ‘Robot Dragon’ here as soon as possible. I need to submit it to the school management today evening! Sorry to disturb you!”. Since Emma was fast at processing information, she quickly hung up and ran to tell her parents. They were free, as it was a Sunday. So Emma, her mum, her dad and Robot Dragon set off in their blue BMW. When they reached, Robot Dragon went around the principal’s house before standing in front of the Principal and saying “In the bedroom, under your pillow”. “Oh!” The principal looked like she could hug Emma in glee. The principal said she was so worried that it would get lost that she slept with it. Emma said, “ Sorry ma’am, I don’t think you should do that next time”. “Yes dear, I realised” said the flabbergasted principal. “Anyways, its high time your received your award Emma dear” she paused. “No, lets do it tomorrow during the assembly f6or the whole school to know!”.
The next day, Emma was named “School Robotics leader” for her school. Emma went on to become a Nobel Prize winner and a pride of her whole nation, and soon, the whole world.
